As the peak summer of 2026 intensifies across the Western Ghats, the cascading beauty of Kerala’s premier waterfall has been reduced to a trickle, prompting authorities to restrict visitor entry until the arrival of the monsoon.
The official order, which came into effect in mid-February, signifies a total ban on trekking and bathing at the falls. This annual closure is a precautionary measure aimed at protecting both the tourists and the fragile forest ecosystem that surrounds one of the most sought-after spots within the Thenmala Eco Tourism | Palaruvi waterfalls circuit.

Why the Gates are Closed: A Focus on Safety.

The decision to shut down entry to Thenmala Eco Tourism | Palaruvi waterfalls is driven by three critical factors.
